Jan. 5 Year End Review + Predictions for the New Year [Is it time for you and your students to take an inventory of their life in 2014 and maybe make predictions for 2015? What interesting self or group conversations can we have in the classroom with this? Can we apply this conversations across our curriculum? What about making a group collage using words or pictures that illustrates who we are or let's us discover who we want to be?]

Dec. 15, 2014 What are you doing this week in your classroom? Are we giving our students choice?

Dec. 10, 2014 What are you doing in your classroom this week? Which box are you or your students in?

Dec 1, 2014 What is going on this week in your classroom? A new planet is forming inside this two star system. What are we doing to instigate new ideas forming in our students?

Nov. 15, 2014 What are you doing this week in class? Which hoops are we jumping through that are not working for us and our students and which are?

Nov. 10, 2014 What are you doing this week? This is the first wolf found in Grand Canyon in 70 years. Where are our students going to be in 70 years?

What can we do to stretch the imagination of our students? This is the airplane of the future, passengers will see the sky. What will this do for air flight? Can we handle it? What are you doing this week in your class to inspire the imagination of your students?

What are you doing this year? Or at the very least this week?

Part of the mission of this blog is to be able to share what we are doing in our classes with each other.

So please take a moment and share one goal that you might have for your students for the year or at the very least what you are doing this week in one of your classes.

Welcome to our new Blog.

The instructional committee is starting a blog where we (all the teachers) at HMS can share what we are doing in our classrooms, reading about education, and general ideas that we might all be interested in.

Our mission statement for our committee is:

     'To improve instructional effectiveness for the purpose of student engagement and performance.'

As a part of this goal we are planning on doing the following with your help:

a. put up a map in the staff room where all staff members can add their ideas
b. create and share a blog with all staff members so that we can share ideas
c. create a mission statement for our committee

So to start this off here is a list of some of the things we would like to accomplish with this blog.

1. open conversations
2. share what we are doing in the classroom
3. share what works for us
4. share ideas that we find as we go to conferences, general reading, or classes we are taking
5. a way for self reflection within the community
