What can we do to stretch the imagination of our students? This is the airplane of the future, passengers will see the sky. What will this do for air flight? Can we handle it? What are you doing this week in your class to inspire the imagination of your students?

ReplyDeleteThis week in physical science we are engineering a car out of paper. Wheels and all. We will try to discover if it can be done and then find ways to change the acceleration of the car as it speeds down a ramp.
In life science we are continuing to look at the levels of organization of living things by reviewing human anatomy. The students will practice scientific drawing of human tissues and cells. We will learn about the main types of tissues found in humans and where they are found in the body. Plus we will review 10 of the body systems. This is the beginning of a semi-independent unit with choices. The ultimate goals of this unit are to do the following;
1) provide choice of independent research
2) review the body systems
3) scientific drawing
4) allow students to practice time management on their own
5) practice chunking a large project into smaller pieces with a calender
6) practice making a concept map (we have been using guided ones in class)
If you are interested in seeing all this in as it progresses, then please stop by and observe or have a discussion about how it is going.
