Dec 1, 2014 What is going on this week in your classroom? A new planet is forming inside this two star system. What are we doing to instigate new ideas forming in our students?

  1. This week in science I am Thankful for our students and I am looking forward to unwrapping their individual gifts.

In physical science we are investigating forces. I will push and pull them to new vocabulary that revolves around chapter 4 by doing picture maps of the new terms and a lab that involves using the equation w=mg to investigate the relationship between mass and weight. As you know mass does not change as you move around the Universe but weight does as the acceleration due to gravity changes from planet to planet.

In life science we are writing a letter to the 'Human Body Corporation' to plead for our job and suggest that there must be another organ in the body that can be let go. We are using Google Apps to write a letter and import pictures to illustrate our points. This is a summary activity for our study of body systems as a subset of our study of levels of classification in organisms. My overall goal is for students to be able to identify that specialized cells in the human body have special jobs to do that work together to make an overall functioning organism.
